How has your artwork changed over time?

My artwork has changed drastically since I started. When I first began taking photos 4 years ago I would just take the basic shots of nature and architecture that everyone sees from eye level and they weren’t very interesting to look at. Since then, I have studied other photographers, watched countless YouTube videos on photography, and experimented with different types of shooting techniques to create a more intriguing image. I also have evolved my photo editing from using Instagram filters when I was starting out to now where I sometimes take up to 20 minutes to finely edit an image and try to bring out the emotion of the shot that I felt when I took it.

Are there any new elements/styles/etc. that you hope to incorporate into your artwork in the future?

I’d love to get more into astrophotography. So much work goes into creating a stunning astro shot in terms of planning and when a photographer pulls it off, they can be some of the most beautiful photos to look at.

What role does the artist have in society?

I think artists in society have the role of giving others something to distract them briefly from daily life and to appreciate or be inspired by whether it’s a painting, photograph, sculpture, etc. I create in order to share my experiences with others with the hopes that they will seek out places they’ve always wanted to experience for themselves.

Describe your perfect cocktail.

My perfect cocktail would be some type of creative margarita that includes local ingredients and fruits you would expect to find in a margarita such as watermelon. I love trying different versions of the margarita and feel like it’s a very versatile drink that can be tweaked in so many different ways.
