Prepare your onion and garlic by finely dicing both.
In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the onion, garlic and whiskey.
Simmer for 10 minutes, or until the onion is translucent.
Mix in the rest of the ingredients, keeping your heat at a simmer.
Once homogenous, bring to just a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low.
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Run the sauce through a strainer if you prefer a smooth sauce.
If you have time to prepare ahead of time, allow the sauce to sit in the fridge for 1-2 days for the perfect blend of flavors.
Use as a dipping sauce or lather on your favorite BBQ meats and vegetables.
